Tips of Taking Care Your Pearl Jewellery
Caring for pearl jewellery requires a gentle approach to preserve their natural luster and prevent damage. Here’s how to care for your pearl jewellery:
1. Wear with Care:
- Last to Put On, First to Take Off: Apply makeup, perfume, and hairspray before putting on your pearls, as chemicals in these products can damage the nacre (the pearl’s outer layer).
- Avoid Direct Contact with Chemicals: Keep pearls away from harsh chemicals like household cleaners, chlorine, and even perspiration.
2. Cleaning:
- After each wear, gently wipe your pearls with a soft cloth given by us to remove oils and dirt.
- Do not submerge pearls in water, as it can weaken the silk thread that they are often strung on.
3. Storage:
- To prevent oxidation, store your pearls separately in the hard, transparent plastic pocket we provide when not wearing them regularly
- Store pearls separately ito prevent them from being scratched by other jewellery.
- Pearls need moisture, so avoid storing them in airtight containers, which can cause them to dry out and crack.
- If your pearls are on a string, store them flat to prevent the silk from stretching.
4. Maintenance:
- If you wear your pearls often, consider having them restrung every year or two to ensure the silk thread remains strong.
By following these guidelines, your pearl jewellery can remain beautiful and lustrous for many years.
